Pa Mug – Reel Cool Pa Fishing Gift

$22.00

His rod is bent, his hat is flying and the barra of a lifetime is in the air. This pa mug is for the grandad who would rather be fishing, and who is, quite simply, reel cool.

Save for later ♡

Pa is happiest in a tinnie at dawn with a line in the water and nobody asking him to mow the lawn, and this pa mug is made for him. He has caught a few in his time, and he has stories about the ones that got away.

This pa mug captures the moment every fisherman dreams of: a big barra leaping out of the water, the rod bent double and his hat flying off his head.

It is a pun, a fishing scene and a compliment all in one. Pa is reel cool, and now everybody knows it.

A pa mug for the fishing grandad

Fishing with Pa is a rite of passage. He teaches the grandkids how to bait a hook, how to be patient, and how to stretch the truth about the size of the catch.

The pun is a classic, the sort of joke Pa would make himself. It is light-hearted and warm, and it suits a grandad who is happiest near the water.

It also makes a great reminder of the mornings spent fishing together, for the grandkids who now drink their coffee out of grown-up mugs.

The watercolour fishing design

The artwork is a loose but clean watercolour scene. A surprised pa in a bucket hat and a blue shirt sits in a little aluminium tinnie, holding his fishing rod as it bends right over.

A big silver barramundi leaps out of a splash of blue and teal water on the end of his line, and his hat goes flying off in the excitement.

REEL COOL is hand-lettered across the top in dark navy brush letters, with PA written big and bold underneath.

The one that didn’t get away

Every fishing pa has a story about the big one. The barramundi that nearly pulled him out of the boat. The flathead that fed the whole family. The bream that, he swears, was longer than his arm.

This design shows the moment those stories are made of, the split second when the fish breaks the surface and everything goes a little crazy.

It is a gift that will get him talking, so make sure you have a spare hour and a fresh cuppa on hand.

If Pa loves fishing, our Fishing Mugs have plenty more for his collection. Or browse all our grandpa mugs for grandads, pops and pas.

About this mug

Who is this mug for?

The pa who lives for fishing, whether it's a tinnie on the river, a jetty at the beach or a quiet spot only he knows about. It's a great gift from fishing buddies of any age, especially the grandkids.

What does the design look like?

A loose watercolour scene of a surprised pa in a bucket hat sitting in a small aluminium tinnie. His rod is bent right over as a big silver barramundi leaps out of the splash, and his hat goes flying. REEL COOL is lettered above and PA sits big below.

Do you have more fishing or grandad mugs?

Yes. See all our grandpa mugs, or our fishing mugs for more fishing designs.

Delivery and care

Do you deliver across Australia?

Yes, to every state and territory by Australia Post, and shipping is free when you order 2 or more items. We only ship within Australia.

How is the design printed, and will it last?

Every mug is hand-printed in Australia using sublimation printing on an 11oz ceramic mug. We like to be upfront: like every sublimation print, the colours will gradually soften with use and washing. It is made for everyday drinking, and a favourite mug that has worn in a little is part of its charm.

How do I look after it?

The sublimation print is dishwasher safe, so you can load it up with the rest of the kitchen. To keep the colours looking fresh for longer, a hand wash with a soft sponge is kinder than a scourer.
