At its heart, Diwali is about one simple idea: light wins over darkness, good wins over bad, and hope wins over fear. Every diya lit on the night is a small way of saying it out loud.
This mug says it every morning.
What’s on the Light Over Darkness Mug
An ornate diya sits in the centre, with a single flame rising above it. Around it is a decorative frame of paisleys, petals and dotted borders that opens out like a flower. The whole design is in just two colours, deep indigo and saffron, and has the slightly textured look of a hand-carved Indian woodblock print.
Below, “LIGHT OVER DARKNESS” is set in classic serif capitals.
A Meaningful Diwali Gift
Sometimes the best Diwali gift isn’t the flashiest. It’s the one that means something. This mug is a gentle way to tell someone you’re glad they’re in your life, especially if they’ve been through a tough year or helped you through yours.
The block-print style also makes it a beautiful piece in its own right. It suits people who love traditional textiles, handcrafts and timeless design.

Why the Diya?
The clay diya is the symbol everyone knows. During Diwali, rows of them are lit in homes, temples and doorways to welcome light and good fortune. Putting one on a mug turns that simple ritual into something you can hold every day.
If you’d like something lighter-hearted to go with it, our Diwali mugs include a smiling kawaii diya and a mug for people who are mostly there for the sweets.
Made to Last
The sublimation print bonds into the glaze, so the indigo and saffron stay rich through everyday washing. Over many years of use, any sublimation print will slowly soften, but this one is made to be used, not saved for best.
May the light always win.
