In Australia, “tinnie” means two things: a small aluminium boat, and a cold can. The very best days involve both. This Tinnie Time mug is a tribute to the greatest fishing technique of all, which is doing absolutely nothing in a boat.
Are the fish biting? Couldn’t tell you. He’s been asleep since ten.
What’s Happening on the Tinnie Time Mug
The design shows a well-loved tinnie, dents and scratches included, floating on a little patch of blue water with an outboard motor on the back. Stretched out inside is a bloke in a navy bucket hat pulled over his eyes, a striped shirt and a pair of thongs, hands folded on his belly.
Next to him sits a yellow and blue esky labelled “COLD BEER”, two fishing rods and a coil of rope. “TINNIE TIME” is hand-lettered underneath in navy blue.
A Small Boat and a Big Day Out
A tinnie doesn’t need to be flash. A few dents show it’s been places: across the sandbar, up the creek, onto the trailer at a slightly wrong angle. What matters is that it floats and there’s room for the esky.
Just pop a lifejacket on before you nod off. Nap responsibly.
